As the name suggests, this diet requires you to consume cabbage as your main meal with the extras such as: mushrooms, carrots, green peppers, onions, celery, and tomatoes.

The diet program must be done within 7 days with the details as following:
Day 1 – Cabbage soup with fruits, excluding bananas
Day 2 – Cabbage soup with vegetables
Day 3 – Cabbage soup with vegetables and fruits, excluding bananas, potatoes, corn and other starchy vegetables.
Day 4 – Cabbage soup with skimmed milk/yoghurt and bananas.
Day 5 – Cabbage soup with tomatoes and beef
Day 6 – Cabbage soup with vegetables and beef
Day 7 – Cabbage soup with unsweetened fruit juice, vegetables, and brown rice
Day 1 – Only fruits, excluding bananas
On your first day, you can have as much cabbage soup with fruits as much as you want except bananas. To control hunger, you can snack on fruits throughout the day including watermelon, grapes or berries. For drinks, you can have juice, unsweetened tea, coffee or water.
Day 2 – Only vegetables
On your second day, you can eat cabbage soup along with vegetables. It is more advisable to choose green leafy vegetables, such as kale, spinach, broccoli, or collards. However do not forget to not consume fruits on this day.
Day 3 – Vegetables and fruits, excluding starchy vegetables.
You can have cabbage soup with vegetables and fruits as much as you want, except corn, potatoes, bananas and other starchy vegetables.
Day 4 – Skimmed milk/yoghurt and bananas.
On this day, you eat your soup with bananas, and drinks skim milk or yoghurt if you prefer.
Day 5 – Tomatoes and beef
For this day, you can have as many as six tomatoes and 10-20 ounces of beef. You also can have broiled fish, or baked skinless chicken for those who do not like beef but you cannot have both.
Day 6 – Vegetables and beef
On this day, you can eat your cabbage soup along with leafy green vegetables and 2-3 slices of steak
Day 7 – Unsweetened fruit juice, vegetables, and brown rice
You can have your soup along with unsweetened fruit juice, brown rice, and vegetables as many as you wish.
After the seventh day
As explained earlier that the cabbage soup diet is designed for short term and you have to stop on the eighth day. It is intended to allow you obtain your ideal weight naturally and without too much loss of nutrients during the diet period.
Simple Cabbage Soup Recipe
- ½ head cabbage, chopped
- 1 package dry onion
- 2 diced green peppers
- 6 large onions, chopped
- 2 tomatoes, diced
- 1 bunch celery, chopped
- 250 grams mushrooms, chopped
- Pepper and salt taste
- Mixed herbs, curry powder, or any other seasoning for added flavor
How to cook:
- Sauté onions using cooking oil
- Add celery, mushrooms, chopped cabbage and green peppers, and cook for 5 minutes
- Sprinkle some curry powder and add some cups of water
- Cook over medium heat until the vegetables become tender.
