What should I wear?

Wear clothes that make you feel comfortable during the class, but avoid choosing baggy clothes for you to wear. Generally, the participants wore t-shirts, sports bras, tank tops, leotards, leggings, shorts, and cropped tights. Remember that the clothing should be made of cotton or fabric to absorb the sweat.

What should I bring?

1. Water

We will lose a lot of fluid during the exercise, and drinking water is immediately the first thing that you need to do after you finished.

2. Yoga mat and towel

Generally, all studios will provide the needs, but you can also bring your own.

However, there are several things you need to avoid during the yoga classes.

1. Drinking too much water during or before exercise.

I understand if you would be thirsty and sweaty during class, but try to drink as needed. Drinking too much water will make your exercise becomes more difficult, especially for yoga poses that require you lay on the belly.

2. Wiping the sweat frequently.

Sweating in a hot room is a natural thing, but you try to keep focused on the class and do not smash it with too frequently wiping the sweat.

3. Wearing baggy clothes.

Baggy clothes is not appropriate to wear when attending a yoga class, because it can interfere your movements.

4. Pushing yourself too hard

Some yoga poses might seem very difficult to do for some people. I think this is normal and will require you some time and patience to be able to do the poses properly. So, just do what your body can do and do not push your body beyond the limit because it can lead to an injury.

5. Becoming too anxious

Attending classes for the first time, probably will make you become anxious. But avoid such thoughts because in yoga you need to concentrate and a peace in yourself.

So, is Bikram yoga good for you, especially for beginners?

Yes, it is. The class room may feel very hot at first, but after attending a few classes, your body will be more resistant and you will love the sensation later. Overall, it is a great place to improve the health and body strength, but make sure you stay hydrated during exercise.
